A Fire Extinguisher for Your Car

You should have one of these. A simple electrical short in your vehicle can turn into a major problem in 30 seconds or or less, and your vehicle could be destroyed in the next couple of minutes. Gas leaks from a wide variety of sources sometimes turn into a dangerous blaze before you are even aware that it started.
Even new automobiles are not immune to this problem. Consider what might happen if your vehicle is in an accident. There is always a chance of a serious blaze starting after an accident. You should know some facts before you go out to purchase a fire extinguisher.
There are two major types of fire extinguisher built for your automobile.
One fire extinguisher is called a "dry chemical" fire extinguisher. This fire fighting device is fairly cheap and found in hardware and auto accessory stores.
The second type is a Halon fire extinguisher. It is much harder to find this type of fire extinguishing device and it is a very expensive fire extinguisher. Don't use a old-style dry chemical fire extinguisher if you can avoid it. The fire extinguisher chemicals used in dry chemical devices will destroy aluminum and magnesium. Also there is a danager that it will also eat through electrical insulation and can damage plastic parts. You may not want to keep your vehicle after using a dry chemical fire extinguisher type device. Yes It is certainly better than not having a fire extinguisher. But a Halon fire device will do a much better job.

However nothing is free and there can be some problems with a Halon fire extinguisher.

First is you need a large size for the fire extinguisher. A very small extinguisher is almost useless unless it's a very tiny fire. An example would be a cigarette burning a hole in your rug. A useful Halon extinguisher is much larger. A five pound Halon extinguisher could weigh around twelve pounds and it might be six inches plus in diameter and about fifteen inches in total length. A fire extinguisher like thisr equires plenty of room for storage.

A Halon extinguisher is very expensive when purchased and when you have to refill it. A smaller extinguisher version of about two and a half pounds of Halon could cost almost a hundred dollars or even up to a hundred and fity dollars or more. But if you every have an automobile fire you sure will be glad you had a Halon extinguisher.

Alaska Defensive Driving Programs Head Into Cyberspace

Not very long ago, if a person received a traffic ticket, they could only get it dismissed one way - find a classroom and sit there in traffic school. But now, Alaska defensive driving programs have gotten with the latest technology and the governing bodies have made it possible to take your Alaska driving school right from the comfort of your own home, over the Internet.

The days of trying to find an Anchorage driving school that isn't halfway across town are over. By simply logging on to the web, you can attend your Alaska defensive driving course from any computer with Internet access. You don't need to rearrange your busy schedule with these online programs - just log on whenever you have some time, work until you want to stop, and return later. The courses are self-paced, so you don't need to worry about "the rest of the class" waiting while you go back and revisit a topic. You're the only one accessing your copy of the course at any given time, so you can go as quickly or as slowly as you prefer.

There are many advantages to taking an online course instead of going into a brick-and-mortar Anchorage driving school. The first, of course, is the location. Many online schools are based on a web delivery system, in which you register and enroll on the web site, and your course is delivered as a series of web pages as you work through the site. This means you're not installing a course on your hard drive, and you can use more than one computer to get to the course material. It's especially handy if you are primarily online in two places, such as home and an office.

The number of hours required when taking an Alaska driving school is set by the state, but that time only includes actual in-course progress. So when you take an online class instead of the classroom course, you save hours of time that you would have spent commuting to and from the course, time that is not counted on your behalf by the courts. There's no need to spend it!

The second advantage is the convenience of time. With a classroom course, everyone gathers in one place at one time to learn the material. With the online option, you can come and go whenever it suits you. This is especially handy for people who work odd hours, or who are up in the middle of the night and would love to be able to do something productive with that time, or for people who just want to work in short spurts of a few minutes each rather than sit down for hours on end.

When the student has completed all the sections of the course, they must take a final exam that covers everything they learned. Once they've received a passing grade, they'll get a certificate of completion to bring to the court. If you work online, this certificate will arrive right at your door, in the mail or by overnight courier. It's so convenient!. by David Peterson
